LOAD BEARING DECK FOR VEHICLES

A vehicle whose load bearing deck (1) can be moved substantially vertically between a ground engaging position and an elevated position. The vehicle comprises a frame (4) which carries a pump (7) connected to supply fuid under pressure to a ram (12) which operates to impart linear movement in a first direction to a drive rack (16). A pinion (17) is rotatable by the first rack (16) and is positioned to impart to a drive rack linear movement in a direction generally opposite to the direction of movement of the drive rack. Each rack is connected through cables (23) to the load bearing deck (1) to raise or lower the same.
