A friction clutch (1) has a plate spring (4) acting on a pressure plate (3) to clamp a clutch plate (13) against a flywheel (16) and a withdrawal element (9) in the form of a diaphragm spring acts as part of a withdrawal mechanism for disengaging the clutch. The element (9) pivots on spacer pins (15) mounted in the housing (2) and acts on the pressure plate (Fig. 1) whereby a generally flat overall spring characteristic is achieved, even with substantial wear travel. <IMAGE> |
