The device is intended for the smooth application of print sheets (1) on the impression cylinder (3) in front of the printing gap (5) of a sheet-fed rotary offset printing machine, and features at least one jet nozzle (8) directable at the circumference of the impression cylinder (3), to press the sheet by means of the action of the force of streaming air. This jet nozzle (8) is mounted so that it can swing in pendulum fashion around a pendulum axis (9) running parallel to the axis of the impression cylinder (3), and can be coupled with a drive which moves the jet nozzle forwards and backwards in the working cycle of the machine, swinging in the direction of travel of the print sheet (1).
