CHARACTER IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD/DEVICE

PURPOSE:To easily produce the characters of halftones without using any mask plate by giving the image data to a synthesizing means from an image data supply means via a specific contour line and by taking out only the part of the image data included in the contour line. CONSTITUTION:A memory 6 stores various data on the character data and the image data which are synthesized with the characters of the character data. The character contour data stored in the memory 6 are given to a line image generating circuit 14 through a computer 5 and used for production of a halftone dot signal C and a mask signal M. Meanwhile the image data stored in the memory 6 are given to a halftone dot generating circuit 10 through the computer 5 and an output interface 9 for production of a halftone dot signal S to be applied. The signals S, C and M are applied to a signal synthesizing circuit 11. The circuit 11 selectively takes out the signals S and C based on the signal M and applies both signals S and C to an exposer driving circuit 12. Then a film is exposed on an exposure drum 13. In such a constitution, the characters including the image data can be easily produced.
