PURPOSE:To provide a semiconductor light emitting device capable of obtaining a clear luminescent image, by a method wherein the directivity of light emission is improved, by restraining the light emitted from the peripheral part of a light emitting device. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with the following; an active layer 5 wherein light is emitted by supplying a current to a semiconductor layer laminated on a semiconductor substrate 1, a light leading-out window 10 through which the light emitted from the active layer 5 is led out in one outward direction, and a reflecting layer 3 which reflects the light emitted from the active layer 5, in the direction of the light leading-out window 10. The reflecting layer 3 is formed just under the light leading-out window 10 via the active layer 5. The reflecting surface has almost the same dimension as the light leading-out window surface. |
