摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the conversion efficiency of second harmonic waves by forming a spherical end part consisting of low melting glass at a hollow cylindrical glass capillary body consisting of high melting glass. CONSTITUTION:The spherical end 1 is formed of the glass having the m. p. lower than the m. p. of the glass material of a hollow cylindrical body 2. The inside diameter of the hollow part 3 is constant even near the spherical end 1. The production of the optical wavelength conversion element by using the spherical end glass capillary produced in such a manner is executed by first immersing the opening end face on the side opposite to the spherical end of the produced spherical end glass capillary into a melt of an org. nonlinear optical material heated and held in a molten liquid state and reducing the pressure over the entire part, then injecting gaseous Ar into the system and maintaining the entire part of the system under about atm. pressure, thereby packing the org. nonlinear optical material into the spherical end glass capillary. This spherical end glass capillary is passed through a Bridgman furnace where the crystal of the core material is allowed to grow.
