OPTICAL SWITCH

PURPOSE:To provide the optical switch which does not generate optical axis misalignment in the optical juncture of optical fibers even if external stress acts. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 6 is provided with first fiber fixing grooves 8 and second fiber fixing grooves 9 each having an approximately V shape in section a slit 7 held therebetween in a direction orthogonal with the longitudinal direction of the slit 7 formed atop this substrate. The longitudinal extension lines of the first and second fiber fixing grooves 8, 9 are aligned to each other. The first optical fibers 2 are fixed into the first fiber fixing grooves 8 and the front end faces 2a thereof are arranged to face the slit 7 and are pressed by a cover plate 10. Step parts 13 are formed by partly notching the peaks of the second fiber fixing grooves 2. An optical fiber arranging member 3 is constituted to include the substrate 6, the first optical fibers (master side optical fibers) 2 and the cover plate 10. The second optical fibers 4 are introduced into the second fiber fixing grooves 9 by the transporting mechanism and are optically connected to the first optical fibers 2. The second optical fibers 4 are pressed by a fiber retainer 17 in the step parts 13 at this time.
