<p>PURPOSE: To restore the exact balance of a memory being possibly distorted by abnormal interruption by detecting the abnormal interruption of repeated procedure by means of an auxiliary cell. CONSTITUTION: In a memory card being composed so as to count down a number of units by means of the continuous programming of a nonvolatile memory cell C(i, j) capable of electrical erasure and electrical programming, a memory is systematized to have N rows composed of P cells, respectively, and the weight of a cell in a row is P times of the weight of a row in the next order. The count down procedure is repetitive, the memory is scanned in the ascending order of weight, an erased cell is retrieved, the erased cell C(i, j) is programmed, at this time, when the erased cell C(i, j) does not exist in a first row, the whole rows just in a lower order are erased and the repetitive procedure is repeated until the erased cell C(i, j) is found in the first row.</p> |
