PURPOSE:To provide the display method which displays arbitrary images such as characters toward the driver of an automobile traveling at a high speed by a moving scan and after-image effect system and the practicable method which can be easily executed on high-speed roads. CONSTITUTION:This method is provided with a light beam scanning means 4 for irradiating a light beam 7 from above a road surface 1 toward the road surface 1 and repetitively scanning the road surface at a high speed with this light beam 7 in a direction nearly orthogonal with the traveling direction of the automobile 3 and is provided with an image data output means 6 which successively forms the reflected light images of the respective lines constituting raster images by this light beam scanning means 4 to nearly the same position on the road surface. The light beam scanning means 4 and the image data output means 6 are operated when the automobile 3 travels at the high speed in the position irradiated with the light beam, by which the retinas of the driver of the automobile 3 placing his visual line forward are sub-scanned with the reflected light images and the raster images are formed therein.
