PURPOSE:To obtain reproduced signals having a good S/N at the time of reproducing information recorded on an optical disk which is so manufacture as to be reproduced with a wavelength lambda1 at the time of reproducing recorded information by using a wavelength lambda2 shorter than the wavelength lambda1. CONSTITUTION:An optical reproducing device which reads information recorded on an optical disk, as pits. The wavelength of the laser beam used for reproducing the information is standardized to be a specific value lambda1 corresponding to the depths of the pits. Such a laser beam that its wavelength lambda2 is shorter than lambda1 and the amplitude increase of reproduced signals caused by that the spot diameter of the laser beam becomes smaller is made larger than the amplitude decrease of the reproduced signals caused by that the phase difference between reflected light from a pit and reflected light from a land section deviates from the optimum value pi, is emitted from a laser emitting means.
