PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch infrared-ray communication systems without depending upon the automatic detection of an infrared-ray signal. SOLUTION: The infrared-ray communication systems are related to communication ports 11A, 11B... 11n respectively. When a communication port 11 is opened, a communication port controller 12 sends relation information to an infrared-ray protocol selecting means 13 and an infrared-ray modem system selecting means 18 by referring to a relation information table 24 in a memory 26. An IrDa(infra-red data association) infrared-ray protocol generating means 14, ASK(amplitude shift keying) infrared-ray protocol generating means 15, or consumer IR infrared-ray protocol generating means 16 is selected and an IrDA modem device 19, ASK modem device 20, or consumer IR modem device 21 is selected. Data are communicated with an infrared-ray signal 27 through an infrared-ray device 23 by using the selected protocol and modem system. |
