PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium for which a wide power margin can be taken against the optimum power detected by means of a recording device and from which no error is generated even when the medium is used for various kinds of recording devices. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium used for an optical recording system having a function which sets the irradiating intensity with light at the recording time by performing test recording in a specific test recording area on the optical recording medium is constituted so that the recording characteristics of the test recording area can be made different from those of a data recording area. In order to make the recording characteristics different between both recording areas, the shape of grooves in the test recording area is made different from that in the data recording area. |
