PURPOSE:To accurately output a part to be seen to an output device independently of the form of a patient by subjecting picture information for medical diagnosis from a body to be examined to histogram arithmetic processing and extracting feaures from the obtained histogram. CONSTITUTION:When an LP 1 is scanned by a laser 2, stimulated luminous light is emitted along the scanning line. This stimulated luminous light is condensed by a condenser 3 and is inputted to a PMT 4, and then, the PMT 4 generates an electric signal (picture information signal) corresponding to the input light. A feature extracting part 7 takes the frequency distribution of each input data level to generate the histogram and extracts features from the generated histogram and preserves them in a file 9. An arithmetic part 10 calculates window width Wi of each part of the body to be examined in accordance with picture information and feature data preserved in the file 9. When an operator inputs a set value related a specific part to be seen from a keyboard 12, the window width corresponding to this part is given to an LUT 13, and the picture having the objective window width is displayed after luminance conversion to the full scale of the CRT luminance. |
