The feeler device consists of a wheel 1 made from soft, spongy material, with a horizontal shaft 16 on which it rotates in a direction opposite that of rotation of the rollers or diabolos 2 of the elevator, having a tangential speed equal to the tangential speed of the cups 3 of the calibrator. Suitable elastic means 13 keep the feeler device constantly applied onto the fruit, which it accompanies in its path from the elevator to the calibrator until it is stably positioned in the relevant cup, prior to the weighing stage. The feeler device eliminates unhindered jumping of the fruit, preventing the possibility of a lack of synchronicity between the fruit and the assigned colour code, more than one fruit being located in a cup, and alteration of the weight to be recorded. <IMAGE>
