PURPOSE: To provide a dye donor for use according to a thermal dye transfer method having advantageous slip characteristics and still bringing about no substantial dirt of a thermal print head. CONSTITUTION: The dye donor material for use according to a thermal dye transfer method comprises a support having a dye layer on one side and a heat-resistant layer containing inorganic particles having a volume average particle size of at least 1 μm, on the other side. The heat resistant layer optionally carries a topcoat containing a lubricant, wherein the particles substantially consist of a mixture of a first type of inorganic particles which are silicate particles having a Mohs hardness below 2.7, and of a second type of inorganic particles, which are silicate or carbonate particles having a Mohs hardness of at least 2.7 in a ratio by weight of the first type to the second type of the inorganic particles contained between 20:1 and 1:2. |
