摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To check slippage continuation and eliminate the necessity of increasing the strength of an electric-motor-driven power steering gear by making the set maximum current of an electric motor smaller than a sliding current which is making slippage continuation possible. When the slippage continuation condition of a torque slip mechanism is detected. CONSTITUTION:A torque slip mechanism 45, which causes slippage when torque on a speed reducer exceeds a certain value, is provided on such an object that transmits driving force of an electric motor 19 to a steering mechanism through a speed reducer. The electric motor 19 has a voltage measuring unit 59 and a current measuring unit 61 connected to itself and a judging unit 63 is caused to judge that it is in a slippage continuation condition when it is detected that the condition of the voltage value and the current value actually running through the electric motor 19 exceeding the specified values has continued longer than the specified period of time. When slippage continuation condition is judged, the maximum current set by the output of a steering torque sensor 21 input through a central controller 57 is changed by a motor controller 65 to a value smaller than the sliding current which is making slippage continuation possible.</p>
