In order to make it possible to mount and dismount an apparatus (20), such as a pressure probe, in and from a container (18) with a side pocket of an oil drilling well, use is made of an apparatus (20) which can occupy a retracted state and an extended state. The apparatus (20) is mounted on a tool (22) in the retracted state and is brought in front of the container (18). Tension on the cable (24) from which the tool is suspended introduces the apparatus into the container. The apparatus (20) is then released from the tool and extends, becoming locked in the container. The tool can then be folded and raised. The apparatus (20) is dismounted by reverse operations. <IMAGE>
