PRODUCTION OF VITAMIN B12

PURPOSE:To produce vitamin B12 with high productivity. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Methanosarcina and capable of assimilating methanol is cultured in a culture medium containing methanol and imidazole and the resultant culture solution is separated from a solid to take out the separated solution. The vitamin B12 is then collected from the separated solution. In this case, the amount of the added imidazole is >2.72 to <=16g/l.
