The object of the invention is to produce a device which can be fitted with just one hand, making it possible to immobilise in the chosen position one or more components offered up by the other hand of the operator who can thus overlap the user of his two hands. It consists of two elements (A) and (B) in the shape of an L, the short branches of which are jaws (2a), (2b), bearing interchangeable gripping jaws, and the long branches of the arms (1a), (1b), which are extendable, sliding head-to-tail in one another, moving the jaws (2a), (2b) together or apart under the influence of springs (4a), (4b) compressed or released by the action of just one hand on two rests (2b'), (5a'). The device according to the invention is particularly intended for work carried out manually, for example model-making, design, assemblies requiring bonding or welding, cutting-out, etc. <IMAGE>
