PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent hair-growing agent, such as a hair tonic, containing a specificα-amylin triterpene or a plant extract containing the same as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This hair-growing agent contains a compound of the formula (R<1> is methyl, hydroxymethyl; R<2> is H, OH) as an active ingredient. Ursolic acid (R<1> is methyl; R<2> is H) or asiatic acid (R<1> is hydroxymethyl; R<2> is OH) is preferable as the compound of the formula. The extract of a plant belonging to the genus Centella or the genus Prunella is also preferable.
