Holding devices (5, 10, 16, 21) for the sections (19) to be welded are fastened to a support designed as trestle (1-4). These holding devices essentially have a base plate (10) fastened to the trestle by means of a clamp (5). Holders (16) with removable clamping yokes (21) are arranged on the base plate (10). The base plates (10) have two fastening points for holders (16) and are arranged at an angle of about 45 DEG under the corners of the frame to be welded, which consists of the tubes (19). Welding jigs for the most varied purposes and of the most varied dimensions can be constructed from simple, inexpensive parts of the kit without special knowledge or aids. <IMAGE>
