PURPOSE:To efficiently purify an oxygen-rich exhaust gas without the use of a reducing agent by removing nitrogen oxide from the oyxgen-rich exhaust gas which contains hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide, using a catalyst of a mixture of large pore-dia. zeolite and small pore-dia. ziolite which are ion- exchanged by a transition metal. CONSTITUTION:Nitrogen oxide is removed from an oxygen-rich exhaust gas which contains hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide, using a catalyst of a mixture of large pore-dia. zeolite and small pore-dia. zeolite which are ion-exchanged by a transition metal. Consequently, it is possible to efficiently purify an oxygen- rich exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine, especially an automotive exhaust gas, without the use of a reducing agent such as ammonia. |
