Side-plates (2, 3, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17) and cross-pieces (21, 22) are cut out from a metal sheet. During the cutting-out operation, complementary interlocking means (23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 4, 5, 6, 13, 18, 19, 20), for example of the mortice-and-tenon type, are produced in the side-plates and cross-pieces. The side-plates and cross-pieces are assembled by placing the interlocking means in arrangements of mutual engagement in order to obtain an assembly of polyhedral shape. The side-plates are welded together along the edges (10, 11, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36,) of the polyhedral assembly.
