<p>A process for treating smoking material, such as tobacco, comprises heating smoking material having a moisture content of from 5 to 75 % at a temperature of from 70 to 220 °C at about or above atmospheric pressure in the presence of air and reducing the pressure on the heated smoking material at a rate sufficient to expand the smoking material.</p> |
