The invention relates to a radio reconnaissance system consisting of several instruments, each consisting of one or more structural units and capable of being connected together in various instrument configurations according to the system function, in which each instrument is connected to a central control unit. To obtain the best performance/cost ratio in such a radio reconnaissance system, the invention proposes that the individual structural units take the form of separate modules, to produce one of the instrument configurations the central control unit select the structural units needed for the selected instrument configuration from the structural units available and couple them to the instruments required for the selected instrument configuration, the central control unit allocate the coupled instruments to a control structural unit and load a control program corresponding to the instrument function into them.
