The engine has a cylinder (10) and a cylinder head (12). There is a power piston (14) within the cylinder (10) that is a substantially gas tight fit in the cylinder (10). A connecting rod (16) connects the power piston (14) to the drive take-off. A displacer piston (28) has a relatively loose fit within the cylinder (10) and is located between the power piston (14) and the cylinder head (12). A second connecting rod (30) extends from the displacer piston (28) to the drive take-off. According to the invention one of the cylinder head (12) and the displacer piston (28) includes a super conductor (90) and the other of the cylinder head (12) and the displacer piston (28) includes a magnet. |
