The room or decorative fountain has a fountain vessel (1), forming a water reservoir, with an electric pump (2) arranged therein and a plurality of overflow steps (3) held at a distance one above the other above the fountain vessel (1) in the form of fixed and/or movable water troughs (9), one of which is connected to the pump (2) via a rising pipe (4). A fountain cover (5), which carries the overflow steps (3), is in the form of a flat dish and has a water outlet (6) to the fountain vessel (1), is placed upon the fountain vessel (1).
