Process for treating used brake fluid

The invention relates to a process for treating used brake fluid based on glycol ethers and glycol ether borates, using distillation. The constituents of such a brake fluid cannot be recovered directly by distillation, because decomposition phenomena would occur because of the high temperatures in the distillation necessary for this. It is therefore proposed according to the invention that the distillation of the various fractions be carried out in vacuo, in particular, in the case of the high-boiling fractions, a pressure of at most 0.01 mbar being used. By this means the boiling point of the individual fractions is considerably decreased so that distillation can take place without decomposition phenomena occuring.
