The invention relates to a sheet-conveying device in the sheet feeder of printing machines, having a vibrating feeder which works from below and picks up a sheet which is aligned on a feed table, arranged ahead of the vibrating feeder, to the front with the aid of feeder lays consisting of covering and front lays and to the side edge by means of a side lay, accelerates it to the speed of the machine and transfers it to a downstream transfer drum, a sheet-conveying device being provided below the path described by the gripper tips of the grippers of the vibrating feeder, said sheet-conveying device consisting of sheet-conveying tongues arranged distributed over the sheet width. The object of the invention, to provide a sheet-conveying device in the sheet feeder of printing machines, with which all the printing carriers being processed are reliably guided between the feed table and a downstream transfer drum in such a way as to rule out any contact of the underside of the sheet with the grippers of the vibrating feeder and the feeder lays, is achieved in that the sheet-conveying device can be brought into such a position, in dependence on the movement of the vibrating feeder, that the surface of the sheet-conveying device facing the underside of the sheet to be drawn off extends at least just above the path described by the gripper tips of the grippers of the vibrating feeder and above the upper side of the covering lays.
