Adhesive tape

Folding boxes are folded from cutouts consisting of cardboard. Box sides which abut with their free edges are joined to one another by applying an adhesive tape. Where possible, the adhesive tape is pressed onto the box sides prior to folding, if these sides are still lying flat on a level substrate. Then the adhesive tape can be pressed on easily and firmly. In the course of the subsequent folding or rotation of a box side about 90 DEG , the adhesive tape is stretched. In the course of this stretching, it may slip on the box sides and become detached from the latter. In order to avoid this deficiency, the invention proposes an adhesive tape which is elastic in the transverse direction. During the folding or rotation of a box side about 90 DEG , this tape is able to expand without slipping on the box sides.
