Storage and retrieval unit for a high-bay store with storage passages (26) which are provided for accommodating storage containers (2). The storage and retrieval unit (6) has a liftable and lowerable slide (15) which is held on a frame movable along the front of the store. In order to enable the storage containers (2) to be retrieved and stored quickly, provision is made for the slide (15) to be of a length corresponding to an integral multiple of the width of the storage containers (2) or the storage passages (26) and extending in the direction of movement of the frame and to have a conveying device (37) extendable in the direction of the storage passages (26) as well as at least one transverse-conveying device (40) movable transversely to the conveying device (37) in the direction of movement of the frame, and for platforms (25) to be provided on the frame which serve as storage places, arranged one above the other, for storage containers (2). <IMAGE>
