What is described is a conveying apparatus which conveys pieces of round timber of different size and quality carefully and without the risk of loss, guarantees high operating reliability, avoids overlaps and crossed arrangements of pieces of round timber, can be operated with an extremely high feed rate and works in a virtually wear-free and maintenance-free manner. By means of this design, the conveying apparatus can be used without difficulty in computer-assisted sawmill installations which work fully automatically, since the indispensible preservation of the sequence can be guaranteed by means of this conveying apparatus.
