The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for cleaning contaminated liquids, in which a centrifugal filter 7 is provided, upstream of which is connected a dirty vessel 3 to which the liquid 4 to be cleaned can be fed for storage and in which the dirt particles contained in the liquid 4 can partially sediment. In addition, downstream of the centrifugal filter 7 is connected a clean vessel 16 to which the cleaned liquid 31 can be fed from the centrifugal filter 7 and can be stored therein and supplied to further use as required. Finally, the dirt (soil) arising when the centrifugal filter 7 is cleaned as required can be fed to the dirty vessel 3 with intermediate connection of a dirt separator 22. <IMAGE>
