The present invention relates to a rim (1) for a music drum (2), consisting of an annular profile with holding devices (3) and/or guides (4) for a snare band (5), and also a corresponding music drum. In order to produce a rim for a drum or a drum, in which the sound, the resonance and vibration behaviour and also the dynamics are further improved, it is according to the invention proposed that there is provided on the rim a fastening arrangement (6) for a lift-off mechanism (7) for the snare band (5). <IMAGE>
