An apparatus for the blow molding of hollow articles which maintains substantially consistent temperature control of the articles prior to orientation and/or prior to final expansion includes an axially reciprocable first core 15 and a laterally movable temperature controlled first mold 22. A parison 16 is placed on said first core 15 and then in said first mold 22. The parison now labelled 29 is separated from said first core e.g. by partial expansion while being retained in said first mold to adjust the temperature thereof. The apparatus includes in addition a second core 30 and a second mold 23 in lateral spaced relationship to said first core and first mold, respectively, and said second core is axially and laterally reciprocable; the second mold is stationary. The parison is transferred to said second core and second mold; and is expanded on said second core in said second mold to provide a finished article 40. The parison may be initially formed on the first core 15 by injection from nozzle 14 into parison die 10. <IMAGE> |
