An optical wavelength-division multiplex transmission network device having a star network structure comprising an array waveguide diffraction-grating multiplexing/demultiplexing circuit (40) having N input ports and N output ports, and N transceivers (31 to 34) each having a transmitter (35), a receiver (36), a multiplexer (38) and a demultiplexer (37), further comprising N 2-input/2-output optical path switches (391 to 39N) corresponding to N wavelengths to deal with failure, if occurring, of the transmitter (35) or receiver (36) of a specific wavelength. The switches (391 to 39N) are set separately in either a first connection state in which the output of each wavelength of the demultiplexer (38) is connected with the input portion of the wavelength of the receiver (36) and the output of the wavelength of the transmitter (35) is connected with the input port of the wavelength of the multiplexer (37), or a second connection state in which the output port of each wavelength of the transmitter (35) is connected with the input port of the wavelength of the receiver (36) and the output port of the wavelength of the demultiplexer (38) is connected with the input port of the wavelength of the multiplexer (37).
