A lantern includes a lantern body with a lamp (7) and a fluorescent lamp (11). The lamp (7) may be burned continuously as a torch, or it may be flashed on and off as a flash lamp. A sonic alarm and an AM/FM radio are included in the lantern body and are operatively connected to a seer (8). The fluorescent lamp (11) of the lantern may be rotatable about its longitudinal axis and about an axis perpendicular thereto. In this manner, the fluorescent lamp is completely movable between a position in which it is pointing straight down and placed in its storage position, and a position in which it is pointing straight up, extending above the lantern body. The lantern can be supplied with AC or DC power and used as an emergency torch and alarm. It can also be used as desk lamp at home or for travelling, because the lantern structure is portable. <IMAGE> |
