A chair has a seat support to which is firmly secured one side of a flat spring that extends horizontally backward and is upwardly curved. A seating plate mounted so as to swivel on the seat suppport is supported on the flat spring and a back is held on the flat spring. In order to allow the stiffness of the flat spring to be adjusted, a support for the flat spring mounted on the seat support can be moved parallel to the part of the flat spring adjacent to the fixing point so as to be placed at various distances from the fixing point. |
