PURPOSE:To prevent serious faults of a system by limiting the three-phase output current of a power converter such as a reactive power compensator etc., so as to be a limit value or smaller in the next half period of the current, when the current exceeds a limit set value. CONSTITUTION:A current limiting circuit is an output current limiting circuit for a power converter which outputs three-phase current, and concerns a current limiting circuit 10 which limits a current command value i* of the power converter to i** by making smaller a limit signal KL to be multiplied by the current command value i* when the three-phase full-wave rectified signal of the output current Im exceeds a current limit set value ImLMT. An asymmetrical filter 106 which increases its output signal by a smaller time constant when this rectified signal is on the rise, and decreases the output signal by a larger time constant when it is on the decrease is provided, and the output signal Im' of this asymmetrical filter 106 is used for the comparison with the current limit set value ImLMT. |
