<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method for tracking a target, in which the probability of a false alarm is reduced without the sacrifice of target detecting capability. CONSTITUTION: A designated air area is monitored by a moving gate. The air area is separated by a crossing ellipsoid, preferably provided uniformly in the periphery of the last estimated speed vector of a target. The plane of the ellipsoid separating the air area can be determined by determining the locus of combination of straight motion and turning motion at a prescribed acceleration. The acceleration can be selected to the maximum acceleration estimated to be achieved by a prescribed target. When the correlation of the target is disturbed or lost, the air area is tested. The detection in the air area is correlated with the target.</p> |
