PURPOSE:To obtain the disk substrate of a type dealing with high-density recording by subjecting the substrate for the magnetic recording medium consisting of a conductive substrate to electrolytic etching in an electrolyte soln., thereby forming the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The substrate for the magnetic recording medium consisting of the conductive substrate is formed by electrolytic etching in the electrolyte soln. Any substrate having <=1X10<-2>OMEGAcm specific resistance is satisfactory. The substrate formed by coating the surface of glassy carbon subjected to surface polishing with a nonmagnetic metallic layer of Ni-P plating, etc., is used. This conductive substrate is subjected to electrolytic etching by electrolysis with the substrate as anode. The texture having excellent productivity and surface characteristics is thereby obtd. The disk substrate of the type dealing with high-density recording and eventually the high-density recording type magnetic disk are obtd. |
