PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display element which permits easy production, is improved in the reliability of adhesion by a sealing agent layer and is improved in display characteristics by preventing the leakage of light in the sealing layer part. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display element 1 is constituted by holding two sheets of transparent substrates 2a, 2b provided with electrode films 3a, 3b and oriented films 4a, 4b apart a specified spacing via spacers in such a manner that the oriented film 4a, 4b sides face each other, adhering the peripheral edge thereof with the sealing agent layer 5 and packing a liquid crystal materials into the spacing. The sealing agent layer 5 is formed to >=1.5mm width. Two sheets of polarizing plates 8a, 8b are so arranged on both outside surfaces of the transparent substrates 2a, 2b in such a manner that the absorption axis directions of these polarizing plates intersect orthogonally with each other. The liquid crystal display element of a negative type, of which the background color is dark is thus obtd. |
