<p>PURPOSE:To provide a method for detecting fault points in pipelines by which not only the deformation of pipelines, but also holes opened through the walls of the pipelines and, in addition, fault points in pipelines rich in bent sections or inclined upward can be detected. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical body 3 fitted to a wire-like body 1 is inserted into a pipeline 1. A pressure receiving section 3 is fitted to the body 3 by means of a supporting member 4. When pressurized air is supplied into the pipeline 1 from the right side, the body 1 advances in the pipeline 1 due to the driving force generated by the wind resistance received by the section 3. When the pipeline 1 is deformed, the deformation can be detected, because the body 2 cannot advance further from the deformed part. In the case a hole is formed through the wall of the pipeline 1, the hole can be detected, because the internal pressure or flow rate in the pipeline 1 changes when the body 2 passes the position of the hole.</p> |
