DETECTION OF INDEPENDENT CHANGE BY CHANGE IDENTIFIER IN VERSION-UP DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To provide a method by which a version-completed data management system detects independent alteration to a certain part at the time of trying to promote the variant of the part. CONSTITUTION: Two identifiers and one flag are maintained at every variant of a part. The first identifier of a variant is the last alteration identifier of the variant. The second identifier of a variant is the last alteration identifier of the variant which has been a draw down source. When a variant is successfully promoted and no preceding variant exists at the promoted level, the value of the draw down originating-side identifier is not changed. When the variant is successfully promoted and a preceding variant exists at the promoted level, the draw down originating-side identifier is set at the value of the draw down identifier of the preceding variant. When the promotion of a variant is failed, the draw down identifier is set at the value of the last alteration identifier of the first variant on a searching route starting from the promoted level.
