PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal color display device which has a proper color tone and no deterioration in picture quality by making color filters uniform in light transmissivity which is different, CONSTITUTION:The color filters 23a-23c of red(R), green(G), and blue(B) are formed on the glass substrate 22 of a liquid crystal cell 20 to uniform film thickness, equalized in aperture area, and arranged in a matrix. Transparent electrodes 25a-25c formed just above the color filters are driven on a time- division basis according to the light transmissivity values of the color filters which are different, color by color, so that the lowest light transmissivity is regarded as reference transmissivity and light transmitted through other color filters becomes equal to the reference transmissivity, thereby correcting the light transmissivity of each color filter so that it is made uniform. Consequently, a liquid crystal color display with a proper color tone and excellent picture quality can be made. |
