The cycled sewing machine has a control to set the needle swing movements and the movement of the fabric workpiece holder to form at least one row of seams. The control also operates the cutter to cut the fabric along the seams. A tensioner lifts the sewing thread if it is slack between the needle and the fabric. The gap between the stitched seam and the cutting line is adjustable.
