PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply generate an image with high quality at a high-speed by performing local color correction. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method and a device for performing local color correction. One embodiment of this invention consists of two processes. The first process extracts an image mask from an input image. In embodiment, the mask is an inverted, low-pass filtered and monochromatic input image. The second process combines extracted image and the input image with nonlinear arithmetic operations. In another embodiment, this combination arithmetic operation is a variable exponential function that has a mask value as the part of an exponent and has a pixel value as a part of a base. |
