The invention concerns a device for automatical capture of soft, flimsy articles such as towels, sheets and garments. The work is today mostly performed manually because it is difficult to capture the article in a controlled way. The invention solves the problem. The device consists of two endless belts (2, 3) stretched over a roller (4) and a shaft (5) each and arranged so that they under springforce can run against each other. One of the belts (2) has elements (11) which at contact with the article (1) capture a part of it and thereby one layer only. The belts are rotated and the article is drawn in between the belts and held fast. A mechanism (10) separates the belts when to release the article. The sensor (13) detects the position of the article.
