<p>PURPOSE: To provide a highly reliable monitoring method of boundary level for detecting the position of a fluid-to-fluid boundary as between liquid and liquid, or gas and liquid. CONSTITUTION: In an electrochemical treatment for extracting magnesium from scrap aluminum, scrap aluminum 29 in fused state is bonded to a positive electrode 18, an electrolyte 30 is bonded to a negative electrode 16, and the intermediate layer 30 of the electrolyte situated between an upper layer 32 of fused magnesium and a lower layer 29 of fused aluminum is formed of scrap aluminum. The difference in heat transfer of fused materials on both sides of a boundary part 28 is sensed by a means such as a thermocouple and heater structure 34 to monitor the level of the boundary part.</p> |
