PURPOSE: To obtain the subject element having a transparent back layer which suppresses interaction between the front face and the back face to a min. and provides enough friction and surface conductivity by constituting the back layer of a mixture of respectively specified ionic polymer, colloidal inorg. particle and polymer particle. CONSTITUTION: This dye-receiving element for thermal dye transfer including a support having on one side thereof a polymeric dye image-receiving layer and on the other side thereof a backing layer comprises an addition product of 0-98 mol% 1-12C alkyl methacrylate, 0-98 mol% vinylbenzene and 2-12 mol% alkali metal salt of an ethylenically unsatd. sulfonic or carboxylic acid. The back layer comprises a mixture of an ionic polymer which is such a polymer binder and wherein the polymer components is selected to achieve a glass transition temp. of at least 30 deg.C for the resulting polymer, submicron colloidal inorg. particles and polymer particles of a size larger than the inorg. particles. |
